MENTORING PROGRAM
Neil S. Braun Student Mentoring Program
In the spirit of Setters helping Setters, the Neil S. Braun Student Mentoring Program connects current students with Pace alumni to offer everything from life hacks to in-depth career advice to networking in the industry they want to someday break into. Pairs can meet and chat through whatever medium suits them best: e-mail, phone, direct message (DM), or even in person—all it takes is that initial "hello".
A key component of the University’s Pace Path initiative is student mentoring, and so the Neil S. Braun Student Mentoring Program is designed to help all students by connecting them with the Pace alumni community who want to stay involved and give back. Alumni mentors serve as guides for student mentees so they are able to achieve both long and short-term goals. At the same time, alumni mentors contribute to the professional and personal development of students and the academic community as a whole.
WHY YOU SHOULD CHOOSE A MENTOR
Your mentor is a Pace alumni and can share insight on how a Pace education translates into the professional or graduate-level academic world. Through this program, you can obtain guidance through your life at Pace and toward your eventual career. Working one-on-one, your alumni mentor can help motivate you, boost your self-confidence and key you in about internships and career opportunities. Mentorship at Pace can establish a partnership and network you draw on for life. Additionally, the program is flexible enough to work within your comfort zone and around your availability. Here are some options:
Long-term mentoring: go in depth — meet one-on-one from a single-semester to a year-long term
Flash mentoring: meet once to address a key issue, such as doing an informational interview for a class assignment
Fast mentoring: do a “mentoring-intensive” over a limited time period (30 days, for example). Get insight on careers or even “shadow” your mentor at his or her job for a day.
